The existing building is ordinary, with no architectural qualities nor historical value, in the outskirts of the town of Geraci Siculo, in the Madonie area. At the ground floor there is a restaurant run by the owners, with an outdoor space; the upper three floors are inhabited by the owners themselves.  

The design proposal is aimed at the renovation of the facades and the outdoor space of the building, improving their architectural quality, and the shading in the summer period. A rendered counterwall with splayed triple height and double height openings, is 1.50 metre distant from the existing elevation toward the access road; in the space between the existing construction and the counterwall, three levels of continuous steel balconies extend the indoor space outside.

The new pitched roof, clad in copper sheets, extends to the counterwall. 

The outdoor space is renovated with new paved resting areas provided with trees, stone seats, and a steel pergola with wisterias.

A 10 cm deep water basin marks at ground level the perimeter of the counterwall.
