The construction works for the regeneration of Formigine's historic centre have begun

The construction works for the first phase of the regeneration of Formigine's historic centre have begun this month, and are due to be completed by the end of July 2018. The first phase includes the redevelopment of piazza Repubblica, the square overlooked by the castle, which lies at the heart of the historic centre in this part of Emilia Romagna, Northern Italy.

The 3.000 sq m urban space will be pedestrianised and unified by the design of the new high quality stone pavements in Istria and trachyte stone slabs and cobbled paving. The successive phases will, hopefully, see the completion of the regeneration of the urban spaces around the castle, as envisaged by the winning scheme of the international ideas competition (2009), by Caronia, Malacchini and Pescarollo architects.
