The scheme envisages the redevelopment of the highstreet crossing from East to West the historic centre, and its integration with piazza Ciro Menotti, the other main landmark of the social and cultural life of the community. This has been achieved by means of the improvement of the pedestrian quality of the urban space with the redesign of the public walkways and the road pavements that are connected harmonically with the square, new urban furniture and tree-planted flowerbeds. The traffic road section has been considerably reduced, and the whole site has become a "20 Zone", where crossing vehicles are not allowed a speed higher than 20 km/h.

The material chosen for the pavements of the new pedestrian walkways is zovonite trachyte stone, which was used extensively by the ancient Romans in Northern Italy, and stands out for its resistance combined with  an high aesthetic quality. The old and worn down existing tarmac has been replaced by an architectural pavement in fibre-reinforced concrete with on sight small size river stones, which provides the resistance required for a traffic road and the aesthetic quality required for this urban regeneration intervention as well.

The overall design of the new sidewalk and road pavements is characterized by the continuous lines of the curbstones in pale Orsera Istrian stone, with orthogonal strips of the same material in the sidewalks, which are visually extended to the traffic road by means of on sight pale colour gravel strips. Two symbolic totems with banners in primary colours mark the East and West entrances to via Vittorio Veneto, working as invitation elements to the regenerated urban centre.

The purpose of this project is not only the aesthetic and functional redevelopment of the site to relaunch it as landmark and aggregation element of the community and foster its commercial activities. The new pedestrian urban spaces have been designed to be used by all, by means of the high comfort of the paving materials, perfectly accessible to the citizens with mobility disabilities, and the insertion of last generation tactile signal routes for blind or partially sighted citizens.
